Timberview Press Release September 2005 Click here to read.NewsTimberview in the Fort Worth Star TelegramFort Worth Star-Telegram (TX) April 3, 2004 LOCAL GOLF INSIDER Archie Allison, general manager of Timberview Golf Club, wants Tarrant County golfers to know one thing: The goats are gone!
Many daily fee courses in the area cost more than $30 per round, especially on weekends. Right now, you can play Timberview for $16.95, including cart, in the afternoon Monday through Friday. That's the club's winter rate, and don't expect it to go up much as temperatures rise. When fees go up this month, the highest any day will be $30, including tax, to start in the morning Friday-Sunday. The club's motto is right there at www.timberviewgolf.com -- "Drain your putts ... not your wallet." "What we're trying to do is make it a really enjoyable place to come and play and not cost an arm and a leg," Allison said. "... The group that doesn't want to pay more than $30 per round, that's our target." Allison helped oversee the massive job of retooling the course. In September 2002, when Allison and his staff began cleaning up the course, the grass was knee-deep. It took 2 1/2 months to clear enough space to move mowing equipment on-site. Allison said enough grass was cleared to produce 4,000 bales of hay. Allison's staff rebuilt two greens and plans to rebuild several others. The lake at the 16th hole never held water and was affectionately called "Mushroom Gulch." It's a bona fide lake now. Timberview re-opened for play on Jan. 15, 2003. There have been some growing pains since. At first, Allison said, golfers basically played on dirt. No longer, though, thanks to the miles of irrigation put in by the new ownership group. "It's green as a gourd," Allison said. Timberview hopes to move into its new clubhouse next month. With white columns and a large porch on both levels, Allison said it reminds him of Tara from Gone With the Wind. Allison said the club has been inundated by queries from women wanting to have their wedding receptions at the clubhouse. Once the clubhouse is completed, he said, it'll be available for receptions and other functions. The building was already on the property but wasn't completed. Allison said it would've cost upwards of $700,000 to build the clubhouse from start to finish, but since it was already 90 percent finished, Timberview didn't need to do that. "It's worth just driving out here to take a look at it," said Allison, sounding like a proud papa. Where the "new" clubhouse is situated will force Timberview to re-order a few of the holes. Once the clubhouse opens, the 18th hole will become the first hole and the 17th hole will be the course's new finishing hole. Timberview is shooting for an official grand opening in May.
